REAL RAP RETURNS…
DJ Premier released Hip Hop 50 Vol.1, a compilation featuring some of his favorite rappers. In doing so, he laid the groundwork for Remy Ma to decimate nearly all of her competitors, alongside the industry’s hidden dem, Rapsody! The fresh feature comes just in time to close out the summer, titled, “Remy Rap“.
Mrs. Terror Squadian opened her “Remy Rap” collab with Rapsody with both guns blazing on their latest release! She begins the song by asserting that there are only “5 dope female rappers” out there. She also slamms the bulk of female rap artists for relying on sex appeal on social media to get spins. If Remy includes herself and Rapsody, there are just three spaces left on the lyrical list. Who else could she be referring to?!
Additionally, Rapsody infused the tune, equating her rap abilities to bearing the weight of the universe in her pants while having gag reflexes. Remy, a talented and veteran combat rapper, recently remarked that rappers who simply recite their rhymes are more akin to karaoke stars or comedians than true MCs. Sheesh! A flashback to the past is given accompanied by a vivid visual directed by Maya Table. Premo spins records on a New York City rooftop in the music video, while Remy and Rapsody rap hard hitting lyrics while wearing items from Adidas and Gucci’s ’80s-inspired collaboration.
The Revival Of Remy Rap
Nevertheless, there is a lot of hometown pride on exhibit. Rapsody, for example, wears a bespoke New York Rangers jersey with “Remy #1” on the back. Whereas the former Terror Squad member wears a custom Carolina Hurricanes jersey with “Rap #2” on the back.
On Thursday, August 11th, Hip Hop celebrated its 49th birthday. Honoring the iconic 1973 DJ Kool Herc party in the Bronx, which is widely regarded as the birthplace of the genre. A portion of the proceeds from the series will also be donated to other charitable organizations. Among them is the Universal Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx, which is set to open in 2024.
