Happy New Year, people! It’s your girl. A N A L O G. “WTF? I gotta spell it out?!” Word to Lil Kim. I’m ready to kick off the year profiling some of my favorite music artists. 2025, we’re here. Give us some game on how to do this independent music thing. Feel me?
First up, we have Breeze Mantana, by way of “Money Earnin” Mount Vernon, NY 10550 to be exact! That’s my alma mater. How do you maintain your independence as an independent artist?
BREEZE MANTANA: I maintain my independence by not taking shitty deals or opportunities and not signing my life away.
How are you keeping up with such a fast-paced entertainment industry?
BREEZE MANTANA: I’m a student of the game, always paying attention to what’s going on. I’m not worried about keeping up though. Consistency with good product is the name of the game. There will always be something or someone new. Trying to keep up has a lot of artists ruining their legacies.
What are you learning as far as new skills?
BREEZE MANTANA: New skills I’ve learned was how to record myself and edit pictures and videos. That’s been helpful.
What about your income streams inside and outside of music?
BREEZE MANTANA: Music is a multi-vertical integrated business. Every artist should be getting paid from publishing, mechanical, performance, sync royalties, digital, neighboring rights royalties, merch, features, and physical sales like CDs, vinyl, etc. You should have things going on outside of music too. 💎
What do you see for indie artists this year and in the future?
BREEZE MANTANA: Idk what I see for these ni**as lol the game is discombobulated, everything is in a disarray. Artists need to start being more competitive and cut the soft shit out of looking to beef when it comes to competition. The game is soft. Nobody wanna step up and drag they nuts and the ni**as that do pop it ain’t qualified.
