Kanika Sin-e’ is the founder of Spillit Entertainment a multimedia-based company providing services to the indie community & creatives alike. Born in NYC she grew up loving music and the culture itself. Her passion would be the driving force behind starting the company. The love for what Indie artists bring to the table was part of the motivation. She designed the platform to be an outlet for the serious artist. Providing them with promotional services, write-ups, interviews, and hosting events to name a few. The company has established itself in the NY scene and continues to grow. I got a chance to speak with the entrepreneur and tap into the mindset it takes to build a consistent platform.
Q: Where are you from?
A: I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.
Q: When did you start your brand & how’d you choose the name?
A: I started my brand in 2017. Originally this was a culture vlog that was named “Spillin Thee Tea”. After a year and a half of doing media and hosting under that brand name, I decided to start a sister company for hip-hop music and its culture called “Spill it Entertainment”. Honestly, I think I was just brainstorming several ideas with my family, friends, and brand manager.
Q: What led you to start your company?
A: I’ve always been a writer and my personality is unmatched. I think the more I started to create and be around music creatives the more I wanted to share their story.
Q: What are the functions of your company?
A: Spillit Entertainment is a multimedia company. We specialize in artist development, special events , and media.
Q: What are some practices you use to stay consistent?
A: I just remind myself why I started this. I also grant myself a lot of grace.
Q: Can you speak on some of the challenges you’ve faced while trying to build & expand?
A: The biggest challenge I’ve faced is knowing when to set boundaries.
Q: Do you listen to a lot of music?
A: I love music. Honestly, if I don’t listen to music every day my day goes horrible.
Q: What are some of the most rewarding experiences you’ve had along the way?
A: I think the most rewarding experience I’ve had along the way is just doing everything I said I would do. Creating a platform that not only I like but people respect.
Q: What would you say is the most frustrating thing you deal with in your pursuits?
A: I think the most frustrating thing I deal with is a lack of professionalism. I come from a family of entrepreneurs so my mindset for everything is “business first”.
Q: What are your goals for 2023?
A: I plan on taking “Spillit ent” to another level of media. Introducing my company to different states and countries.
