Ja’king The Divine has been writing Poems, rhymes and studying Hip hop since he was 8 years old. This lead him to start taking his music seriously around 2017. Ja’king made sure when he began his career he could actually contribute something unique to the culture because “anybody can rhyme words well” as he says.
He makes it clear he always loved hip hop and felt spiritually connected. No matter how much he tried to suppress the artistic side the love for the culture, the bigger the desire to be apart of it became. “I just wanna bring cinematic, conceptual albums back to the forefront”.
Some of his musical influences range from Gil Scott Heron, Miles Davis, Nas, Wu Tang, Rakim, to Metallica, Black Sabbath with many more. Having released 4 projects already you’ll be able to get an idea of his brand of music.
When asked about the listeners of today he states “I feel that there are still some real connoisseurs left but for the most part I think people have to re program and change some of their ways of thinking and approach to art as a whole”. Also pointing out how following trends as affected artist & listeners.
Following his music you can see the growth from an artistic stand point with every album and rhyme he gets better. This also applies to his imagery through writing, and technicality within his schemes. He’s also learning and getting better at creating atmosphere, emotion, feeling and experience through personal production or producers he collabs with.
He is working on an album called “Parables Of The Sower” named after a book from a legendary black non fiction author named Octavia Butler. It’s album about change, and his interpretation of god through studies with an Ancient Kemet
Some of the of the artist he’d like to work with are Madlib, KA, Black Thought, Nas, RZA, Jay elect, Tyler the creator, Asap Rocky to name a few. First time listeners can expect a lyrically dense conceptually heavy cinematic experience. Avant garde jazz fusion loops combined with orchestrated live instrumentation from his music
