Debanaire as the name implies is sophisticated, confidently cultured, and charming. All these adjectives describe a Brooklyn born MC raised in the Fort Greene area. His first Project “The Wicked Pen” is a well thought out mixture of Concepts, Lyrics and captivating hooks.
Starting out as a fan of music & Hip Hop this would lead to him freestyling his own lyrics. The reaction he would get from friends & family is something he’d remember. Artist like The Lox and Jay Z are a few that Debanaire cites as motivation for him gettin more involved in music. His family would also play a major part in encouraging him and letting him know he was gifted. He specifies his Cousin Qua, younger Brother Eternal The Mc, and Momma Love.
While talent is a big part Debanaire credits his grind, relationships in the industry, keeping his word, being reliable, and networking at events to his progression. This is a key component many artist overlook
He has embraced the Journey of finding his style and the challenge of stepping out of the box. While he is bar heavy he makes sure to show his writing ability & vision. The process also reinforced his passion for Hip Hop as he treats his Pen with much importance. NYC being in his DNA he feels no added pressure to represent for the city.
Moving forward Debanaire wants to expand his sound and collaborations, particularly working with R&B acts and using Afro Beats. This year he’ll be releasing his sophomore album “Alchemy” which will feature Mcs Termanology and Oun P. He’ll also be performing at SXSW with Paul Wall. He doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.
