It’s been a pleasure seeing Bronx Mc Def Soulja’s progression over the last couple of years. Another artist I came across on Twitter I was heavily impressed with the song “Word” from his collab project with Pryme City “Cloth Talk”. The Mc showed lyricism, wit, presence and a commanding voice. Checking out his other projects “Recognize A Soulja 3” “There’s a Soulja in Every Saint” and “Militant Minded” made me a supporter. Great body of work, great production, and what I like to call reality rap without the backpack.
I’ve been able to sit down with the rising Mc and he’s credited Styles P & Beanie Sigel as some of his favorite Mcs. While Soulja reps his city to the fullest and feels he has established his sound, he also makes it clear he isnt stuck in a box with his artistry. Also mentioning aligning with proper management has also helped his progress. He’s continuing the music out put and collaborations with other mcs, but now he’s expanding his talents doing shows outside the tri-state area.
He is currently promoting his recent release “42 Square Miles” a collaboration with prominent NY producer 183rd who has worked with the likes of Smoke Dza, Nym Lo, Asap Rocky, and Curren$y. Adding to a catalog that’s potent this doesn’t fall short. 183rd has produced entire albums for artists and seems to zone in with each artist. No different on this project which has Def Soulja as sharp as ever and in his Pocket. Another example that NYC hasn’t gone anywhere
